What is Tally Counter?
The Tally Counter is a digital clicker that lets you count anything — people, items, reps, or occurrences — with a single tap. It supports multiple named counters so you can track several things at once, and your counts persist in your session.
Each counter has its own label, current count, and an activity log of every tap with timestamps. You can run several counters side by side, decrement one if you over-counted, copy all current totals at once, or export the full activity log as CSV for record-keeping. A live chart shows tap rate over the past hour.
How to use
- Tap the large '+' button to increment the counter by one. Use the '−' button to decrement if needed.
- Create multiple named counters by entering a label and tapping 'Add Counter' to track different categories simultaneously.
- Use the reset button to send a counter back to its start value (zero unless you set one), or reset every counter at once.
When to use
- Counting attendees, foot traffic or entries at a door without losing your spot.
- Tracking workout reps, swim laps or knitting rounds where you cannot pause to write.
- Doing a quick stock take with separate counters for receiving, shipping and damaged stock.
Result
A warehouse worker creates counters named 'Boxes Received' and 'Boxes Shipped', tapping each throughout the day to get a quick tally of 147 received and 132 shipped by end of shift.
FAQ
- Can I run more than one counter at the same time?
- Yes. Name each counter (Boxes In, Boxes Out, Damaged) and add as many as you need. Each one tracks independently and the totals line up next to each other, so you can compare two streams of counts in real time.
- What if I press the plus by mistake?
- Hit Undo (or press Ctrl+Z) to take back the last tap instantly — it reverses one increment or decrement without touching anything else. You can also use the minus button to subtract, which writes the correction to the activity log, or Reset to zero a single counter without disturbing the others.
- Do my counts survive a page refresh or device sleep?
- Counts persist while the page tab is open and across reloads on the same device. Clearing the site's saved data, or opening the page somewhere else, starts fresh. For long-running counts, export the CSV log periodically.
- Is there a hard limit on how high I can count?
- The counter stores values as regular JavaScript numbers, so in practice you can count well into the millions before precision becomes an issue. The activity log keeps the last 1000 events to stay responsive on phones.
- How do I share the result with someone else?
- The fastest way is Share: it makes a link (and a scannable QR) that carries every counter and its current count, so anyone who opens it sees the same set on their own device and can keep counting. Prefer plain numbers? Copy All drops all totals as text into a chat, email or sheet, and Export CSV gives you the full event-by-event log with timestamps for audits.
