What is Video Trimmer?

Video Trimmer lets you cut the beginning and end of video files to keep only the part you need. All trimming happens privately on your device — no uploads or accounts required. You get frame-level control over your cut points.

The trimmer reads MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, and MKV files locally and lets you drag two markers on the timeline to set start and end. Type exact seconds, or use the step buttons, when you need frame accuracy. In Fast mode the output keeps the original codec and downloads in a couple of seconds even for long sources; switch to Precise mode for a frame-accurate re-encode. A remove-selected mode cuts a middle section out and rejoins the ends, a mute toggle strips the audio track, and keyboard shortcuts speed up precision work.

How to use

  1. Upload a video and preview it in the built-in player
  2. Set the start and end timestamps using the sliders or by typing exact times
  3. Click Trim and download the shortened clip

When to use

  • Cutting a 30-minute lecture down to the one section you actually want to rewatch.
  • Removing the silent intro and outro from a phone recording before sending it on.
  • Pulling a 15-second teaser out of a finished video for Instagram or TikTok preview.

Result

You recorded a 10-minute meeting but only need the 2-minute Q&A segment at the end. Upload the recording, set start to 8:00 and end to 10:00, and download just the Q&A portion.

FAQ

Will trimming reduce the quality of my video?
No. The trimmer uses stream copy when possible, which slices the file at keyframes without decoding or re-encoding. Bitrate, resolution, and audio stay identical to the source. The only loss is that your cut points may snap to the nearest keyframe.
Why does my start point shift slightly when I trim?
Most video codecs only allow cuts at keyframes, which happen every 1 to 5 seconds depending on how the file was encoded. In Fast mode the trimmer rounds to the closest keyframe before your chosen start to keep the first frame valid. Switch to Precise mode to re-encode and cut on the exact frame instead.
What's the maximum file size I can trim?
Practical limits depend on your device RAM, since the trimmer holds the source in memory while processing. On a modern laptop, files up to about 2 GB work without issue. On a phone, keep source files under 500 MB to avoid the tab crashing.
Can I trim multiple segments in one pass and join them?
Yes, in part. Switch to Remove selected mode to cut a section out of the middle and automatically rejoin the two remaining ends into one clip. To stitch together several separate files, trim each segment and use a video joiner afterwards.
Does the audio stay in sync after trimming?
Yes. The trimmer keeps the audio track aligned with the video and trims both at the same timestamp. Some files with variable frame rate (often from screen recorders) may show a small drift at the start, which clears after one second.
