What is Zalgo Text Generator?

Zalgo Text Generator turns normal text into creepy, glitched-out text by stacking Unicode combining marks above, through, and below your letters. The result looks corrupted, like the words are falling apart. Good for Halloween graphics, horror channel art, cursed memes, or a social bio that stands out.

The generator stacks combining marks from three Unicode blocks (above U+0300-U+036F, middle U+0334-U+0338, below U+0316-U+0333) onto each character of your text. Each layer has its own intensity slider from off through low (1-3 marks per char) up to insanity (15-30 marks per char), so you can build asymmetric looks. Platform-safe mode caps the stack for apps that trim heavy marks, and the output stays valid Unicode you can paste into Discord, Twitter, or Instagram bios.

How to use

  1. Type or paste your text into the input field — any language or characters work.
  2. Set the intensity for each direction — up, middle, and down get their own slider, so you can go heavy above and light below.
  3. Copy the generated Zalgo text and paste it anywhere — social media, messaging apps, or documents.

When to use

  • Decorating Halloween posts, horror channel banners, or creepypasta thumbnails.
  • Making chaotic Discord usernames or status messages that stand out in a channel.
  • Stress-testing your app's text rendering with worst-case combining-mark stacks.

Result

Input: 'Hello World' with medium intensity becomes 'H̷̢̧e̵̛̹l̶̰̊l̷̝̈o̵̡͝ W̶̱̄o̶̲̓r̶̯̎l̷̗̀d̶̰̄' — each letter gets stacked with combining marks.

FAQ

Will Zalgo text break the app I'm pasting into?
Usually not. Most modern apps render it fine, but heavy stacking can overflow line height and overlap surrounding text. Twitter and Discord clip excessive marks; SMS and old email clients may show empty boxes instead. Turn on Platform-safe mode to cap the stack and avoid that.
Why does the text overflow into the line above or below?
Each combining mark sits above or below the base letter without taking horizontal space. At high intensity, the stack grows taller than the line, so it visually bleeds into adjacent rows. Lower the intensity or turn off one direction.
Can I use Zalgo text in usernames and search engines?
Some platforms accept combining marks in usernames (Discord, Steam), others strip them (most banks, Google accounts). Search engines normalize combining characters when indexing, so the underlying word is still searchable.
Does the Regenerate button produce a different result each time?
Yes. Each combining mark is picked at random from the available pool, so two runs with the same input look different. Click Regenerate until you find a stack you like, then copy.
What's the difference between low, medium, high, and insanity?
Low adds 1-3 marks per letter (subtle glitch), medium 3-7 (clearly broken), high 7-15 (heavy distortion), insanity 15-30 (text becomes a vertical smear). Insanity often gets clipped by chat apps — turn on Platform-safe mode to keep it readable everywhere.
