What is Clipboard History?

Clipboard History keeps a running log of everything you copy. Clips are saved on your device, so you can search and re-copy any past entry, even after you close and reopen the tool. That URL or snippet you grabbed five minutes ago is still there.

Auto-tracking polls the system clipboard every 1.5 seconds and adds anything new to the list with a timestamp. You can also paste manually into the input box if clipboard read permission is denied. Each clip gets a small type badge (link, email, or code) so you can scan the list at a glance, and you can edit any saved clip in place to trim whitespace or fix a typo. Pin entries to keep them at the top, search by substring, and your history — the last 100 clips plus everything pinned — is saved privately on your device and restored the next time you open the tool. Export the whole list as JSON to back it up or move it to another device.

How to use

  1. Click 'Start Tracking' to begin monitoring your clipboard for new copies.
  2. Browse your clipboard history list — each entry shows the text and timestamp.
  3. Click any entry to re-copy it, pin important items, or search through your history.

When to use

  • Setting up a new project where you copy API keys, URLs, and snippets in quick succession.
  • Writing an email or report and reusing several quotes or links from earlier research.
  • Translating or coding when you need the previous five things you copied, not just the last one.

Result

A developer copies multiple API keys, URLs, and code snippets while setting up a new project, then uses clipboard history to quickly find and re-paste the database connection string they copied earlier.

FAQ

Why does the tool ask permission to read my clipboard?
Auto-tracking polls the clipboard every 1.5 seconds to catch new copies. Without permission the tool falls back to a paste box where you press Ctrl/Cmd+V to add an entry, so you can still use it without granting access.
Does my clipboard history get sent anywhere?
No. Clips are stored privately on your own device and nothing is uploaded — no account needed. They also stay saved between visits, so your recent history is waiting when you come back. Use Export anytime to download a portable JSON copy you can move to another device.
Can I keep important entries from being scrolled out of view?
Pin them. Pinned clips stay at the top of the list separated from the regular history, and a small badge marks them. Unpin to send a clip back into the chronological list.
Why didn't an item I copied show up in the list?
Either auto-tracking was off (click Start Tracking first) or the browser blocked clipboard read at the OS level — common when the tab is not focused. Switch back to the tab and copy again, or paste manually into the input box.
Does my history survive closing the page?
Yes. Your clips are saved on this device and reload automatically next time you open the tool (the last 100 plus everything you pinned). Clear All wipes the unpinned ones, and Export downloads a JSON backup you can keep or move elsewhere.
