What is Journal/Diary?

Journal/Diary is a private writing space for daily notes and reflections. All entries stay on your device — nothing is uploaded or shared.

Entries save to your device as you type, each tagged with a date, a mood (happy, neutral, sad, grateful, and more), and your own custom labels. Filter by mood or tag, search across every entry, and export to JSON for a portable backup that works as a future import source.

How to use

  1. Click 'New Entry' to write a journal entry. It uses today by default, but you can pick any past date to backdate it.
  2. Write your thoughts in the text area. Your entry is auto-saved as you type.
  3. Filter by mood or tag, jump to any day on the calendar, search your text, or download everything as a JSON or plain-text file for backup.

When to use

  • Tracking mood patterns over weeks to spot what triggers low or high days.
  • Keeping a gratitude or habit log without signing up for an account.
  • Drafting private notes during therapy or coaching that no one else should see.

Result

A student uses the journal every evening to reflect on their day. After a month, they have 30 dated entries stored locally. They click 'Export' to download a JSON backup before clearing their data.

FAQ

Where are my journal entries stored?
Entries live in your browser's localStorage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and the data stays in this browser until you clear site data or export it.
Will my entries sync to other devices?
No automatic sync. Each device has its own storage. To move entries to another device or browser, export the JSON file on the source, then keep it as a backup or open it for reference on the new device.
What happens if I clear my browser history?
Clearing site data or cookies will delete every entry, so export the JSON file from time to time as a backup. Private or incognito sessions also start with an empty journal and discard entries when the window closes.
Is there a limit to how much I can write?
Browser localStorage typically allows about 5 MB per origin, which fits tens of thousands of average-length entries. You can keep writing daily for years before getting close to that limit on any modern browser.
Can I edit or delete an entry after saving it?
Yes. Click an entry in the list to open it, edit the text, change the mood, or add tags — changes save automatically. Deleting shows a brief Undo window so an accidental tap is never permanent.
