What is PDF Watermark?
Add text or image watermarks to every page of your PDF. Protect documents with 'CONFIDENTIAL', 'DRAFT', or custom text. Adjust opacity, rotation angle, font size, and color. Everything runs on your device — your documents stay private.
The watermark is drawn as live PDF text or as an embedded image, so it stays sharp at any zoom level and remains attached to every page rather than baked into a flattened image. Adjust opacity 10–100%, rotation from -90° to +90°, font size, and color hex. Apply to all pages or a specific page range. Output is a brand-new PDF; the original is never sent anywhere.
How to use
- Upload your PDF, then choose between text watermark or image watermark.
- Customize the watermark: set text, font style (sans, serif, condensed and more), bold or italic, size, color, opacity (10-100%), and rotation. Switch on Mosaic to tile it across the whole page.
- Preview a page with the watermark applied, then download the full watermarked PDF.
When to use
- Marking a contract as DRAFT before circulating it for internal review.
- Adding a CONFIDENTIAL stamp to financial reports going to external advisors.
- Branding a portfolio PDF with your studio logo at low opacity on every page.
Result
Upload a 30-page contract draft, add 'DRAFT — NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION' as a diagonal watermark at 30% opacity in gray. Download and share for review.
FAQ
- Can the watermark be removed from the resulting PDF?
- Determined users with an editor like Acrobat Pro can remove a watermark layer because PDF stores it as a separate object. To make it tamper-resistant, set high opacity and large size so the underlying text is hard to read once removed, or flatten the file afterwards.
- Will the watermark show on the very first page?
- By default yes. If you want the cover sheet clean, use the page range field — e.g. enter 2-99 to skip page 1, and the watermark only stamps the rest. Page ranges accept comma-separated values and dashes for ranges.
- Why does my image watermark look pixelated in the output?
- The tool keeps the image at the resolution you upload. If the source is small and you scale it up to fill the page, the pixels become visible. Upload a high-resolution version (at least 2x the size you want on the page) for sharper results.
- Does opacity affect how it prints?
- Yes. The opacity setting is honoured by every PDF reader and printer that follows the spec. A 30% watermark prints as a 30% watermark. If you need it darker on paper, set opacity above 50% before downloading.
- Can I watermark a scanned PDF made of images?
- Yes. The watermark draws on top of whatever the page contains — text, images, or scanned pages. It does not interact with OCR layers, so the original scan stays untouched underneath.
