What is Posture Reminder?
Set an interval and get notified when it's time to sit up straight. Long hours at a desk take a toll on your back and neck, so a regular nudge goes a long way.
Pick from 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120-minute intervals. The countdown ring shows time remaining at a glance, and a desktop notification fires when the timer expires. If desktop notifications are blocked, an on-screen alert appears instead. The reminder count tracks how many nudges you've received during the session.
How to use
- Step 1 — Set how often you want to be reminded (e.g., every 20, 30, or 60 minutes).
- Step 2 — Click Start and grant notification permission when prompted.
- Step 3 — Receive a gentle reminder each interval to sit up straight and adjust your position.
When to use
- Sitting at a desk for long stretches and slouching without realising it.
- Recovering from neck or lower back pain that gets worse the longer you sit.
- Working a job that requires sustained focus, like coding or writing reports.
Result
Working from home, you set a 30-minute interval. Every half hour a notification pops up reminding you to straighten your back and relax your shoulders.
FAQ
- Why does notification permission need to be granted?
- Without permission this tool cannot fire a desktop alert when the tab is in the background. Granting it once means the reminder reaches you even if you've switched to another window or app.
- What happens if I close the tab?
- The timer stops. This tool runs entirely in the page, so the tab needs to stay open. Pinning the tab or keeping it in a small dedicated window helps keep it out of the way.
- How often should I actually stand up or stretch?
- Physiotherapists commonly recommend a short break every 30 to 45 minutes. The exact interval matters less than the consistency, so pick something you'll actually stick to.
- Will the reminder sound an alarm?
- It uses the same desktop notification sound your system uses for any other site alert. If you've muted notifications system-wide, the visual alert in the page will still appear when you check back.
- Does the timer keep counting if my laptop goes to sleep?
- No. When the device sleeps the timer pauses with it. The reminder will fire shortly after you wake the machine, then resume the cycle from that point.
