What is Image Watermark?
Protect your photos and artwork by adding custom text or image watermarks. Control position, opacity, size, rotation, and tiling so the mark deters unauthorized use without hiding the image underneath.
Stamp photographs with a copyright line, signature, or logo before publishing. Text watermarks let you pick the font, style (regular, bold, italic), size, colour, opacity, and rotation, and apply a shadow or outline so the mark stays readable on busy backgrounds; image watermarks accept a transparent PNG logo. Place the watermark in any corner, dead-centre, or tile it across the whole image so cropping won't remove it. Outputs preserve full resolution.
How to use
- Step 1 — Upload the image you want to watermark. Then choose between a text watermark or an image/logo watermark.
- Step 2 — Customize your watermark: pick the font, style, size, and colour, add a shadow or outline if you want extra legibility, adjust opacity and rotation, then choose a placement (any corner, centre, or a tiled pattern).
- Step 3 — Preview the watermarked image and download it. Choose PNG, JPEG, or WebP, or keep the source format.
When to use
- Adding a copyright line to portfolio shots before publishing them online.
- Stamping a logo across product photos so they're hard to repurpose without credit.
- Marking draft documents or proofs with a 'DRAFT' or 'CONFIDENTIAL' overlay.
Result
A photographer uploads a portfolio shot, types '© Jane Smith 2025' as a diagonal watermark at 30% opacity tiled across the image, then downloads the protected version for their website gallery.
FAQ
- Will a watermark really stop people from stealing my photos?
- A small corner watermark is easy to crop out. A tiled, semi-transparent watermark across the full image is much harder to remove cleanly — even AI inpainters struggle with it, and the result usually shows obvious smudging that signals theft.
- Does the watermark reduce my image quality or change the original file?
- Your original file is untouched. The tool renders the watermark onto a canvas copy and downloads that as a new image. By default the output matches your source format; use the Format dropdown to export as PNG, JPEG, or WebP instead.
- What opacity and rotation make a watermark legible but unobtrusive?
- 20–35% opacity with -30 to -45 degrees rotation is the photographer standard. It's visible on light and dark backgrounds, doesn't overpower the photo, and the diagonal angle is harder to crop or clone-stamp away than a horizontal line.
- Can I use my own logo PNG instead of text?
- Yes. Switch to image watermark mode and upload a PNG with a transparent background. A size slider lets you scale the logo as a percentage of the image width, and it respects the same opacity, rotation, position, and tiling controls as text. SVG isn't supported — convert to PNG first if needed.
- Why does the watermark look different sizes on photos of different dimensions?
- Font size is in pixels, so a 48-pixel watermark looks huge on a 1000-pixel image and tiny on a 6000-pixel one. The tool scales the watermark relative to the image's longest side automatically, but you can override the size for very large or small inputs.
