What is Meme Generator?

Open the Templates tab for 14 ready-made layouts: captions snap into the right spots but drag anywhere, and you can add stickers or doodle on top with the freehand brush. Or switch to Custom Image to upload your own photo and drop on top, middle and bottom text. Both let you tune the font, size and colour, and both stay private on your device — nothing gets uploaded.

On the Templates tab, pick one of 14 built-in layouts (Drake, Distracted Boyfriend, Change My Mind, Two Buttons, This Is Fine, Expanding Brain and others). Captions snap to each template's boxes but you can drag any of them to a new spot, switch the font, recolour the text, and toggle bold or italic. Templates also give you the extras: add a free-floating text box for more lines, drop in any of 24 meme stickers and drag them into place, or grab the freehand brush (six colours and an adjustable size) to scribble straight on the picture. The Custom Image tab is simpler: load your own JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF and add fixed top, middle and bottom captions with your choice of font and colour. Either way, export as PNG or JPG, or copy it straight to your clipboard.

How to use

  1. On the Templates tab pick one of 14 layouts, or open Custom Image to upload your own JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF
  2. Type your captions — on a template you can drag any of them to land exactly where you want
  3. Templates also let you add stickers, an extra text box or a freehand doodle; tweak the font and colour, then download as PNG or JPG or copy to your clipboard

When to use

  • Reacting to a coworker's Slack message with a Drake template instead of typing a reply.
  • Captioning a screenshot of your dog before sending it to the group chat.
  • Making a slide for an internal presentation when a plain bullet point would put people to sleep.

Result

Upload a photo of your cat, add 'WHEN THE FOOD BOWL IS EMPTY' on top and 'PURE BETRAYAL' on the bottom, then download and share.

FAQ

Why does my text look pixelated when I upload to Twitter or Instagram?
The export keeps the original image resolution, but social platforms re-compress everything. Start with an image at least 1080 px wide and use a thicker stroke so text survives the recompression.
Can I use these memes commercially?
The blank templates are reconstructions, not the original photographs, so you can use them freely. If you upload your own image, the rights depend on where it came from. Stock photos and screenshots from copyrighted material need permission.
What font does the classic Impact look use?
Impact with a black stroke is the default for old-school top-text-bottom-text memes. Pick it from the font dropdown and bump the stroke width to 6-8 pixels for that 2010 image-macro feel.
Do uploaded images get sent anywhere?
No. The image is loaded into a canvas on your device and the text is drawn locally. Nothing leaves your machine, which means you can meme private photos or work screenshots without leaking them.
Why is my GIF saving as a static PNG?
The export grabs a single frame because the canvas only sees the first frame of an animated GIF. For animated memes you need a GIF editor; this tool is for still images and frame captures.
