What is Org Chart Maker?

Build organizational charts with a visual editor. Add employees with names, titles, and photos, then arrange them in hierarchical relationships. Export as PNG, SVG, or PDF for presentations, or save the structure as CSV for backup and re-import later.

The editor handles trees of any depth, so a 200-person engineering org and a five-person startup work in the same canvas. Each node holds a name, job title, department, optional email and phone, a photo, and a custom colour. Flip the whole chart between top-down and left-to-right with one click to suit wide or deep teams. Reorder by adding reports under any node or dragging cards onto a new manager. Search by name jumps straight to a person in a large org without scrolling. Bring an existing org list in through CSV import (Name, Title, Department, Email, Phone, Manager) and export it back out the same way to round-trip your work between sessions. SVG keeps the chart scalable for slide decks, PNG is sized for embedding into Notion or Confluence docs, and PDF prints onto US Letter for HR handouts.

How to use

  1. Add the top-level person (CEO, team lead, etc.) with their name and title. Click any node to add direct reports beneath it.
  2. Customize each node with colors, photos, and department labels. Drag nodes to rearrange the hierarchy.
  3. Export the finished chart as PNG for docs, SVG for slides, PDF for printing, or CSV to save the structure for a future session.

When to use

  • Onboarding a new hire — show them who reports to whom on day one.
  • Slide for a board meeting that needs the current leadership team at a glance.
  • Documenting a re-org so the rest of the company understands the new structure.

Result

An HR manager builds a 20-person engineering department chart with the VP of Engineering at the top, three team leads below, and individual contributors under each lead.

FAQ

How many people can I put in one chart?
There's no hard limit, but charts beyond 100 nodes get hard to read on one screen. For very large orgs, build a chart per department and link them in a navigation page, or zoom in by team for each slide.
Can someone report to two managers (matrix structure)?
The tree model only supports one parent per node, so it doesn't represent dotted-line relationships natively. A common workaround is to put the primary manager in the chart and note the secondary reporting line in the person's title or department field.
How do I add a photo for each person?
Click any node to open the editor, then Upload to attach a JPG or PNG headshot. Photos are stored privately on your device and embedded into the PNG, SVG, and PDF exports, so the chart still shows faces after you share it.
Does the export keep the colours and photos I set?
Yes. The SVG export embeds the photos as base64 and the colour styles inline, so the file is portable. PNG is rasterised at the current zoom level, so zoom in for a higher-resolution image before exporting if you need it crisp.
Can I save my chart and continue editing later?
Yes. Export CSV downloads a Name / Title / Department / Email / Phone / Manager file you can keep with the rest of your HR data, then drop the same file back into Import CSV to pick up where you left off. SVG export keeps a high-fidelity visual snapshot if you only need the rendered chart.
