What is Round Robin Generator?

This tool builds a complete round robin fixture list where every team plays every other team. Enter your team names and it schedules balanced rounds using the standard rotation method, with optional home-and-away double round robin. Export the fixtures as CSV or copy them for your league announcement.

It uses the circle method: one team stays fixed while the rest rotate one seat each round, which guarantees every pairing appears exactly once. Up to 64 names are accepted, duplicates are dropped, and an odd count gets a bye slot so nobody is left standing without a fixture. The CSV opens in Excel with accents intact.

FAQ

How many rounds and matches will a schedule with N teams produce?

With an even count, it is teams minus one rounds, each holding half the teams as matches. Ten teams give nine rounds of five. An odd count runs the same number of rounds as teams, with one side on a bye each time.

What happens to the schedule when I have an odd number of teams?

A placeholder slot is added, and whoever is drawn against it that round sits out. The bye rotates, so over a full season every team misses exactly one round rather than the same club sitting out repeatedly.

Is the home and away split actually balanced, or does one team host everything?

Balanced. The fixed pivot team would otherwise host every match, so its home and away sides swap on alternating rounds. Run a double round robin and the whole first leg is mirrored, which evens out the rest.

Can I move the fixtures into a spreadsheet or paste them into a group chat?

The CSV download has one row per match with round, match number, home and away columns, ready for a league table formula. The copy button gives a plain text version grouped by round that pastes cleanly into WhatsApp or Slack.
