What is Mind Map Creator?

Mind Map Creator lets you visually organize ideas around a central topic. Add branches, sub-branches, and notes to build a structured diagram you can rearrange by dragging, then export as an image or JSON.

Each branch radiates from the central topic and can hold its own sub-branches several levels deep. You drag nodes to reposition them, double-click to rename, and scroll-zoom to navigate large maps. Node colours can group themes (red for risks, green for wins). Save as JSON to reload later, export PNG for slide decks, or export SVG when you need it to scale losslessly for print and large screens.

How to use

1. Enter your central topic, then click Add Branch to create connected idea nodes around it.
2. Click any branch to add sub-branches, edit text, or change its color — drag nodes to rearrange the layout.
3. Export as PNG or SVG for slides and reports, or save the structure as JSON to reload later.

FAQ

How deep can the branching go before the map gets unreadable?

Three to four levels works on a normal laptop screen; beyond that, child nodes start crowding each other. For deeper hierarchies, drag related branches into separate clusters and zoom out, or split into multiple maps linked by topic.

Does saving as JSON preserve the layout and colours?

Yes. The JSON stores each node's position, colour, label, and parent reference. Reloading puts everything back exactly where you left it, which makes JSON the safest format for work-in-progress maps.

Can two people edit the same mind map at once?

Not in real time. The tool runs entirely on your own machine. For collaborative editing, save the JSON file to a shared drive and take turns, or screen-share while one person drives.

What image size does the PNG export produce?

The export captures the entire mind map at the current zoom level and upscales it roughly 2x for crisp slide insertion. Very large maps may produce big files: zoom out and recentre before exporting to keep the PNG manageable.

Can I link two nodes that aren't parent and child?

Not directly. The data model is a tree, where each node has exactly one parent. To suggest a cross-link, give the two related branches the same colour or matching keywords so the relationship is visible by convention rather than by line.
