What is Photo Booth Overlay?

Photo Booth Overlay adds decorative frames and themed overlays to your photos. Pick a party, birthday, holiday, or other template and download a fun photo booth-style image.

Twelve themes are built in: party, birthday, holiday, wedding, graduation, vintage, halloween, baby shower, valentine, new year, summer, and neon. Each one draws a banner plus matching decorative elements (balloons, confetti, frames, hearts). You can override the accent colour, tune opacity from 0 to 100%, apply a sepia, black-and-white, or vivid filter, hold a button to peek at the original photo, pick a single photo or build a 2-up strip or 4-up grid, then save as PNG, JPEG, or WebP — or copy the result to your clipboard.

How to use

1. Upload a photo (PNG, JPEG, or WebP) by clicking, dragging, or pasting with Ctrl + V — the image loads into the editor canvas.
2. Browse the overlay categories and select a frame or overlay template to apply.
3. Adjust the positioning if needed, then download your framed photo as a PNG.

FAQ

Can I use a portrait photo from my phone or does it have to be a specific size?

Any size up to 20 MB works. The canvas matches your photo's pixel dimensions, so the overlay scales to fit. Tall portraits, square selfies, and landscape group shots all render with the banner and decorations positioned to the photo's edges.

Why does the same theme look slightly different on two photos?

Decorations are positioned relative to the photo's edges, not at fixed pixel coordinates. A 1200 px wide photo gets bigger balloons and a thicker banner than a 600 px one, so prints stay visually consistent regardless of source resolution.

Can I change the colour of the decorations and banner?

Yes. Each theme has a default palette, but the colour picker overrides accent colours for confetti, hearts, balloons, and stars. The opacity slider also lets you soften the overlay if it competes with a busy background photo.

Does the banner text change with each theme or can I edit it?

Yes. The Banner text field replaces the theme default with any message you like, and the Banner position control snaps the banner to the top or bottom of the photo. Leave the field blank to keep the theme's preset wording.

What format is the downloaded file and does it support transparency?

Downloads come as PNG, JPEG, or WebP, depending on which button you press, and you can also copy the result straight to your clipboard. JPEG and WebP are roughly half the size of PNG and better for sharing on chat apps (WebP is the smallest of the three); PNG keeps the original quality, supports transparency, and is ideal for printing.
