What is Place Card Maker?
Make place cards for weddings, dinner parties, and formal events. Add guest names with table assignments, customize fonts and decorative borders, then download a print-ready PDF set up to fold into tent-style cards.
Cards print as tent-folded rectangles in three sizes (3.5x2, 4.25x3.5, or 5x3.5 inches) with the guest's name doubled on both halves so it reads from either side of the table. Switch between serif, sans, or italic script fonts, pick a thin, double or ornate border, optionally show table numbers and meal codes, and download the PDF with fold-line guides.
How to use
- Enter guest names — type individually or paste a list. Optionally assign table numbers or add meal preferences.
- Customize the card design: choose card size, font style, decorative borders, colors, and optional motifs.
- Preview the cards laid out for printing, then download the PDF. Cut and fold along the center line.
When to use
- Wedding receptions where each plate needs the guest's name and table assignment.
- Holiday dinners with extended family, especially when a chicken/fish/veg meal needs to be signalled to the server.
- Corporate galas or fundraisers with assigned seating and dietary requests on each card.
Result
Planning a wedding reception for 80 guests. Paste the guest list, select elegant script font with gold border, assign table numbers 1-10, and print on cardstock.
FAQ
- How does the tent fold work — do I print on both sides?
- Single-sided in both layouts. In Tent mode the name is mirrored on the top half so it reads correctly on the back once folded along the centre crease, showing the same name to either side of the table. In Flat mode each card prints once and sits in a holder or lies flat as an escort card.
- What card stock should I use for the best result?
- 200 to 300 gsm cardstock holds the tent fold cleanly without sagging. Anything lighter tends to slump, anything heavier resists folding. Matte or linen finish hides crease wrinkles better than glossy.
- Can I show a meal preference for the catering team?
- Yes. Toggle the meal field on, then enter codes like B (beef), F (fish), V (vegetarian), or VG (vegan) per guest. The code prints small under the name so servers can match plates to seats without asking.
- How are guests sorted on the printed sheet?
- Toggle Sort by Table to group guests by table number (natural numeric order, so 1, 2, 10 — not 1, 10, 2) before downloading. With the toggle off, cards print in the order you entered them. Either way the typed list stays unchanged in the form.
- What's the difference between the three card sizes?
- Small (3.5x2 in) suits cocktail tables or buffets, medium (4.25x3.5 in) is the standard banquet size and works on most round-table settings, large (5x3.5 in) gives extra room for long names or a calligraphy-style script font.
