What is Receipt Maker?

Fill in your business details, add line items with quantities and prices, and download a formatted PDF receipt. Handles tax, discounts, and payment method — good for freelancers, small shops, or anyone who needs a quick receipt.

Three template styles (professional, modern, minimal) and a colour theme picker change the look without editing layout by hand. Line items take quantity and unit price, the subtotal auto-totals, then tax percentage and a flat or percentage discount apply on top. The PDF is generated locally and includes a receipt number, payment method, optional notes, and your contact block.

How to use

  1. Enter your business name, address, and contact information at the top.
  2. Add line items with descriptions, quantities, and unit prices — tax is calculated automatically.
  3. Choose a payment method, add optional notes, then download the receipt as a PDF or a PNG image.

When to use

  • Freelancers sending paid-invoice confirmations after a session or gig.
  • Small shops without point-of-sale software handling cash sales.
  • Reimbursement paperwork when a vendor only provided a handwritten slip.

FAQ

Is a tool-generated PDF receipt legally valid?
In most jurisdictions a receipt just needs the seller's name, transaction date, amount, payment method, and a description. This tool covers all those fields. For tax-deductible expenses, check your local rules — some countries require a registered tax ID, which you can add via the optional Tax ID field that prints in the header.
Can I add my logo or change the colours?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPEG, SVG, or WebP under 2 MB and it appears above the business name in the header. The colour theme picker offers six palettes that recolour headers, totals row, and accent lines — pick a palette that matches your logo and the rest of the receipt follows suit.
What's the difference between the three templates?
Professional has a coloured header bar and bordered table — best for B2B work. Modern uses thin underlines and lots of whitespace, suits creative services. Minimal is pure black-on-white with no styling, prints cheapest on a basic inkjet or thermal receipt printer.
Can I apply both a discount and tax?
Yes. Discount is applied to the subtotal first, then tax is calculated on the discounted amount. That matches how most retail systems work. If your local rules calculate tax on the pre-discount total, adjust your numbers before entering them.
Where do you store my data?
Nowhere. Everything stays on your device — typing, PDF rendering, and download all happen locally in this private tool. Nothing is sent to a server, so client details, prices, and notes never leave your machine.
